Adding new uplink to Vswitch

I am trying to understand on the networking side what happens by default when a new uplink is added to a standard vswitch which is configured for IP based load balancing.  If it is has 2 already active uplinks, does the new uplink added become active automatically or is placed in unused or standby.mode,   Is it considered active until added to a port group.

Any advise

If you use  IP hash, then both link become active.

But you must configure the physical switch to support this mode.

Thread moved to vNetwork area.

That is right.

As soon as a NIC is added to a vSwitch with IP hash configured the NIC becomes active.

However, you must configure 802.3ad link aggregation on physical switch and must include the physical NIC to that link aggregation channel other wise this may result in VM/host connectivity issues.
