the website indicate available for purchase on May 21st, 2009 but no downloads yet even admin guides not available but the beta version should be good for most part but can't wait to see real version come out and test in our environment!

Take a look at http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/upgrade-center/upgrade.html So far May 21st is the target.
Today was the vSphere announcements only and as was mentioned by our CTO the vSphere "Gold Master" has now been cut.
As soon as all of the pieces of the distribution jigsaw puzzle are in place then vSphere, along with all the documentation will appear on vmware.com/downloads.
Sorry I cannot be more specific (and I fully appreciate the frustration) than that at this time but I don't hold anywhere near a high enough position within the company to be able to say anything else on a public forum
best regards,

I hope they release this soon, they should release it to customers with current subscriptions sooner than the 21st. I been trying to get the beta to start testing and thought I was finally going to start testing today but now I have to wait longer, ohh the agony. :_|
One month between announcement and download? I think many of the vmware customers will not understand this gap...
Tom
I've been lucky enough to be involved in the beta program. Rest assured that it's worth the wait. :smileycool:
vSphere is due for General Availability in Q2 of 2009. Marketing campaign on April 21st, 09 had simply spread the news of it's arrival in near future. Also, it had given an opportunity to customers who need to stay current with their support and subscription in order to receive the free upgrade to vSphere 4.0 product suite. You can subscribe to VMware RSS feed and stay current with latest news, events, etc :
