vsphere standalone converter

I have a 32 bit physical workstation running Windows XP.

Trying to install VMware converter 6.2.0 fails with error:

"Error 1920.Service VMware vCenter Converter Server (vmware-converter-server) could not start. Make sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

This is likely because the new versions of the converter don't support Windows XP. I've used starwind converter before, but it won't work on 32 bit machines.

Any advice for a supported product/process that would accomplish this?

Thank you.

Hi,

You might use a combination disk2vhd and Ventoy.

Imho substituting old applications with newer releases and migrating data gives you more choices than encapsulating the workstation as a vm. Encapsulating cannot deal with expired certs, datetime culprits and security related issues.

Can you run the converter on a machine that is 64 bits? Then you can virtualise the xp computer.
