Hello Everyone,

I have troubles launching the console, it says... server name could not be found, but in the small screen I can see the server is running.  What am I missing?

Hi,

Just checking, have you got the console plugin loaded? should see a message relating to it.

Also,

i) have you tried a different browser?

ii) if so(firefox for example) and you still get an error take a look http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200738...

can you try pinging the server name  (vCenter) ? may be a DNS issue.

Do you have a firewall running which may block required ports (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1012382)?

I have tried different browsers, and I have the same problem.

How do I know if this is a DNS issue, I don't have access from here to a DNS server, I don't have privileges,, I can only see these 3 machines.  I can see them as I said in a very small window, when I try to launch it I see there are some buttons I should be able to press like Crl alt del but is not possible, they are just there as images, and cannot click on them.   And if this was a DNS problem, should I be able at least to press this buttons.

Hi,

maybe you cold post some screen shots.

You could check dns with the command nslookup servername

Then you must recieve an answer from your dns server that give you the right name of your machine.

Can you try accessing web client using https://<vSphere WebClient_ServerName>:9443 or https://<IP_Address_WebClient>:9443 (not the loopback address). For this to work you need to ensure that your Web Client Server Name and IP are registered in DNS (both Forward lookup and Reverse Lookup Zones). So you can validate if your Web Client name is resolvable by running at command prompt:

C:\.....>\nslookup <vSphere WebClient_ServerName> - This output should give you the IP Address of the Web Client Server

or nslookup <IP_Address_WebClient> - The output of this should give you the name of the Webclient Server.
