vpxd.exe crashes vSphere 6.01b

Since one day I am no longer able to properly log into the vSphere Server either by fat nor web client.

Normally the connection holds a few minutes and then the vpxd chrashes

In the Application log I see:

Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: vpxd.exe, Version: 0.0.0.0, Zeitstempel: 0x55de6e33

Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: KERNELBASE.dll, Version: 6.1.7601.19045, Zeitstempel: 0x56259271

Pfad des fehlerhaften Moduls: C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll

Berichtskennung: 784f3541-b927-11e5-b1da-005056b01cbf

Same in the System log. I just see that the service was terminated and will restart. After three times Windows is being rebooted.

In the vpx log I can see: (The original names of the hosts I changed to HOSTNAME)

The german text basically states: The requested name is valid but no data of the requested type have been found.

2016-01-12T13:35:53.117+01:00 warning vpxd[10988] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Failed to resolve address; <resolver p:0x0000000032e57d10, 'HOSTNAME:443'>, e: system:11004(Der angeforderte Name ist gültig, es wurden jedoch keine Daten des angeforderten Typs gefunden)

In fact I am not able to connect the to the hosts using the vSphere Server while I have a connection and until the next crash.

Any ideas?

Name resolution for the vCenter Server hostname is working for A and PTR records ? Anyway, see if this post helps you: vCenter Server won’t start » VCDX56

Hi,

yes the name resolution is working and is has been working all the time before, too. The link you posted I saw too and in fact we did make a chdsk but no change. My workaround at the moment was to use the IP adresses instead of the FQDN names.

Of course this would actually point to a problem with DNS but it is working.

So for now the workaround is in place and I hope to find the source of this problem soon.
