vSphere upgrade from ESX 4.0

Hello All,

I have upgraded an old ESX 4.0 host to vSphere 5.0 upgrade 1. I wiped out the host and did a fresh install of the OS. Everything came back up great. But when I went to add the vm data stores back, it see the luns but I only have the option to "Format the disk" and I receive The current disk layout will be destroyed and all data will be lost permanently". Not exactly what I want to do !

Am I missing something in my config ?

Are these LUNs mounted from a storage system? Please double check they if are presented properly in read-write mode.

Did you already check whether the LUNs are identified as snapshot LUNs? see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387

Yes these are iSCSI Netapp luns
