vSphere client msi?

Can anyone tell me if there is a vSphere client msi install? I don't see one on the CD and I've hunted around on the vCenter server with no luck. Thanks.

Open a web browser and point it to your vCenter/ESX(i) server and you'll get a download link for the vSphere client: <vc_server_or_esx>/

You can also directly hit the installer by going to: <vc_server_or_esx>/client/VMware-viclient.exe

That is the exe file. I'm looking for the msi. I have some users with a version of windows installer that will not install the exe, but will work with an msi.

Actually the VMware-viclient.exe is the MSI, but it is a packed version of the msi installer.

If you want to extract the msi bits, then it appears you can use the following:

vmware-viclient.exe /a /s /v" /qn TARGETDIR=C:\viclient"

burdweiser,

It is recommended that EXE is used for installations, since that acts as a bootstrapper for maintenance of the installation (update/uninstall/repair) etc.

By using the *.msi, certain CLI options might not get into effect...

If these Windows versions used are claimed to be "supported" by VMware products, pls raise a service request to ship MSIs....

When you go to install the client you can find it under     C:\Users\{User}\AppData\Local\Temp   the temp folder with have characters inside "{}" sometimes begining with "{4CF..}" or "{DC...}" If you go in there during an install, you should be able to find it. I was having some issues with a missing MSI file that's where I found it and was able to uninstall and reinstall. No one else's input worked.

[Thanks anyways support]
