vSphere Standard without vSphere vCenter Server ?

Hello,

Actually, I have only one ESXi host, but I will not take the Essential kit of vSphere because my installation could use more than 3 hosts in the future.

I would like to get vSphere Standard license for my host. Today to manage my ESXi I use vSphere Client and I don't have the utility of using the vCenter, so I wanted to know if I have to buy a vSphere vCenter Server license when I use a vSphere Standard in a host.

Regards.

Hi,

you can manage vSphere Standard licensed hosts directly without vCenter.

vCenter really comes into play when you get more than one host and want to use the cool features like live migration, HA, DRS, etc.

Until then you will be fine without it.
