Hi,
since upgrading to vSphere, the vSphere Client crashes with the following error, when exiting the application:
VMware Infrastructure Client unrecoverable error: (app)
Exception 0xc0000005 (access violation) has occured.
Please request support.
To collect data to submit to VMwar support, run "vm-suuport".
Thing is, there's no vm-support.exe anywhere on the machine (I only know vm-support from the linux COS of ESX) ...
Using vSphere Client and Server 4.0.0.162856 on Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 x86 English.
Client is run with the following parameters:
VpxClient.exe --locale en_US --PassthroughAuth --server

Great finding! I have changed my regional setting and now the exception is gone. Thank you for the Info and I hope vmware support escaltes this soon to R&D.

Hi all,
I upgraded to vSphere Server 4.0 yesterday (I also moved to a new server running Windows 2003 Standard x64) and was having the exact same issue when closing the application. Thanks for the tip regarding the regional settings, works a treat. Although BGINFO on my VC server and clients now show the American date which just looks wrong :smileyblush:
Has anyone heard from VMware regarding a more permanent fix?
Thanks,
-

Hi, I have exactly the same problem and when I switch my regional settings to "english(us)" the problem goes away. But I am in Australia and need to set my region accordingly!
When will this issue get resolved!
George.
I have the same problem. I'll try the regional setting change. That's a weird fix.

I'm sorry Zapnet but I do not understand what you wrote. Could you kindly translate what you wrote into english. Even "english (us)" I can understand
George.
Hi gparker,
it is an out of office message. So the content is not so important, except your are interested in calling Mr. Mannheim which is the replacement for zapnet whilst he´s out.
Bye,
Sven
Hi,
we are aware of the issue (PR 445084) and it will be fixed in Update 1 which should be out in November.
Cheers
Valentin
Excellent, good to hear
George.
I have this problem after install Plug-In "VMware vCenter Update Manager Extension in version: 4.0.0.3194"
Hi MTrojnar,
yes, that is expected, removing the vCenter Converter Plugin is the recommended workaround. We implemented changes on how the plugin loads it's dll's in Update 1, once you update, this won't happen anymore.
Cheers
Valentin
thanks for reply, i'm waiting for this update 1 : )
