vSphere Client 5.0.0 B469512 - Internal Error

Hi,

If I try to add a VM, edit settings on an existin VM and other actions, I get

"An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Index was outside of bounds of the array."

I have tried everything found here:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1308

and re-installed to no avail. Everything working fine on a different XP pc. The failing PC runs Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Summary from error report:

System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

Hi,

Do you have multiple versions vsphere client on the PC?

Please check if you have any? If yes, you need to uninstall everything and install latest vsphere client

Hi,

No, I do not have multiple version installed.

I suspected incomplete uninstalls were the problem (I tried workstation earlier), which is why I tried the clean-up I linked to.

best regards, john

Do you have any database installed on this machine?

Can you also check your local time? Is it set correctly?

I'd give it a windows update also and then try to re-install the client.

Time is sync'ed with time.windows.com and is OK.

I am running Postgres SQL Server 8.4 on the machine. Should I stop the service?

I have some optional updates pending, will have a look at them. Any special updates that are needed?

Most probably its the database, try stopping the service. As for the updates, just do it all, you never know which one might be needed.

Give it a reboot and re-install.

Good luck!

All updates pending were language packs. I do not need them.

I am in process of cleaning up again (see link in original post).

Afterwards, I will try stopping the database service, reboot, and re-install vSphere client.

Thanks, I will report back if it worked or not.

Hi again,

I am afraid it did not help.

I ran Workstation 5 and 6 installer with /C options, none of them detected an installation. Re-booted in between.

I ran Workstation 7 installer with /CLEAN option. Re-booted.

I changed the Postgresql service to manual start and stopped it before re-booting.

I disabled antivirus program and firewall.

I ran CCleaner to clean registry, no issues found.

I installed vSphere client, same version and same error as in open post.
