vMotion Possiblity in vSphere Upgrade

Hi,

We have ESX 3.5 Cluster with 12 nodes. In our upgrade plan, first we are going to upgrade vCenter Server, VUM, ESX Server and SRM. while upgrading the ESX our plan is to move 3 ESX from the cluster since we have lot more free resource. We are going configure new cluster with 3 ESX 3.5. host and we are going to start the upgrade process in the 3 host cluster. slowly we will move the production VM to this cluster and slowly we will move the host from old cluster( ESX 3.5) to new cluster (ESX 4.0).

My Question - Is it possible to perform the vMotion across the cluster if LUN are share and VM Network is available?

Please le me know Asap.

-Ibrahim

Yes it is possible to vmotion from one cluster to another as long as they have access to the same network and datastore

You also need CPU compatibility or the same EVC baseline (the less specific in vSphere is the same as the EVC baseline in ESX 3.5).

We are using the same blade server. So i hope there wont be a CPU compatible issue.
