vCenter in a MSCS Windows Cluster

Hi,

Looking at deploying vcenter in a Windows MSCS Cluster using vcenter 6.0 update 2 on physical hardware. Has anyone here done this before and can point me to some good documentation?

Thanks,

Adam

I haven't done it myself.

But if you take a quick look at following document

http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/vmware-vcenter-server-6.0-availability-guide.pdf

Page 17 onwards there's a step-by-step guide, that might be of your help

Ive seen this article before but it only talks about doing MSCS on a virtual machine. I'm looking at doing it on physical servers.

Having a look over the doco and please correct me if im wrong. If you are using virtual machines with WSFC they require RDM/Local Disk. So the virtual machines still need to be located in the same environment.

I am looking for data centre high availability. So if we drop a data centre we still have vcenter up and running at our other data centre. I'm wanting to use a WSFC using a GEO cluster and the disk is replicated on the array. We have this configuration on our SQL Clusters so if we do have network/storage or environmental issues at one data centre all our clusters will failover....

Isn't deploying a second vCenter at the second datacenter and connecting the two using Linked Mode an alternative solution here?

sorry for the late reply on this. From my research on this earlier in the year the link mode is also a single point of failure. the vcenter MSCS is the best form of HA.
