vCenter Upgrade Fails with install.ini not found

I tried to upgrade my existing vCenter 4.1.0 server to vCenter 5.0, but I'm getting install.ini not found error.

My steps:

  • The server is running Windows 2008R2 Enterprise (64-bit).
  • Downloaded the VIM zip file and verified that the md5sum matches.
  • Ran autorun.exe as Administrator:

vc0.jpg

  • Invoked the vCenter Host Agent Upgrade Checker, it completed successfully.
  • Clicked Install button, after selecting the language, I get:

vc4.jpg

  • Then I get:

vc2.jpg

  • Followed by:

vc3.jpg

The installation log files are attached.

Thanks

Tim

Hi,

maybe you have corrupt binaries? Take a look if the checksums match.

Redownload the image and then verify.

The problem was due to the Windows 2008 system having been STIG'ed.  It caused the upgrade to fail.  I reinstalled Windows and was able to install vCetner5 successfully using the same media I had.
