vCenter License not installed, only Enterprise Plus - Is it needed?

Sorry if this may seem to be a bit of a dumb question. Im just audting a VMware environment im looking after and I've noticed that while we have enough Enterprise Plus licenses installed for the 20 or so ESX Hosts in the Farm, I cant find any vCenter License. We are Licensed for vCenter (I have serials for 4 instances of vCenter), however none seem to be installed.

vCenter is working fine, no error messages are present, no licensing reminders are being logged, etc.

Can someone point me in the right direction here, I would of assumed I'd need a vCenter license installed in addition to all the vSphere Enterprise Plus licenses. Thx in advance!

The rights for everything, including the vCenter agents and vCenter itself, are baked into the single Enterprise Plus key.

My vCenter actually has a license specified under Administration, vCenter Settings, Licenses.

I think it may vary by edition. Are you using Enterprise Plus?

My ESX host are Enterprise Plus and my vCenter is standard. Also vCenter is licensed per instance while ESX is licensed per socket. I know the vCenter agents are covered by Enterprise Plus license but you still need a license for vCenter.
