vCenter Converter install fails ("Attempted to read or write protected memory")

I've just upgraded my vCenter to v4

When I first went to install the vCenter Converter it ran through the GUI setup as expected, but once complete it threw an error stating:

Attempting to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

??? Other memory??

I see this error every time I launch the VI client into VC.

In the plugins screen I see this for the vCenter Converter:

vCenter Converter

VMware, Inc.

4.1.0

Disabled

vCenter Converter

The plug-in failed to load on server(s) vcenter_server due to the following error:

Object reference not et to an instance of an object.

If I right click and try to enable it gives me a pop-up that says:

External component has thrown an exception.

Nothing in the Windows logs

Nothing in VC console or events.

???

Wow - that did NOT come up in a forum search for me.

Thanks folks. Glad I was able to resolve it, but rather sad to see VMware has not addressed the issue with a simple DLL placement.
