We have ONLY four ESX 3.5 servers and 1 Virtual Center server 2.5...and a very limited budget. The Virtual Center 2.5 is running smoothly on HP Proliant DL380 G2 server with one CPU 1.4 GHz. I am planning to upgrade my VI3 to vShpere 4.
I read all hardware requirements for vCenter 4 but still would like to ask experts if I add one more 1.4 GHz CPU to my old HP Proliant DL380 G2 would it be able to run vCenter 4 software and monitor my four ESX servers upgraded to vSphere 4?
Thank you.
You can probably get away with it for now. There is no absolute requirement for dual CPUs.
Would it be better with two 1.4 GHz CPUs than with one 2.0 GHz CPU or one 1.4 GHz? I guess that two 2.0 GHz CPUs is the best choice but I do not have such option ![]()
