vCenter 4.1 and vCenter 5 LinkedMode ?

Good morning All

I am upgrading 1 of 2 vCenters to 5.0. They are both currently 4.1 and LinkdMode. Is it possible to have one version of 4.1 and 5 within a LinkedMode?

Any links to docs would be great.

Thanks

I believe vCenter can only be in linked with other vCenter 5 instances.

I did managed to find this documented at the following link: http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere5/doc/vsphere-esx-vcenter-server-50-release-notes.html

Updated vSphere Client Connections to Linked Mode Environments

vCenter Server 5.0 can exist in Linked Mode only with other instances of vCenter Server 5.0. Linked Mode groups that contain both vCenter Server 5.0 and earlier versions of vCenter Server are not supported.

you cannot link a 4.x and a 5.x vCenter instance.  You'll have to break linked mode upgrade one instance, then the other then link then back when both vCenters are at 5.x
