v-Sphere partitioning recommendations

We are getting ready to deploy v-Sphere and looking at the partitioning recommendations. What we are considering is:

/ 5120MB

Swap 1600MB

/Var 4096MB

/Home 2048MB

/Opt 2048MB

/Tmp 2048MB

/vmimages 512MB

My understanding is the following partitions are automatically created.

/boot 260MB

Vmkcore 100MB

This will be a scripted installation. I have read /Opt may no longer be needed. What partitioning schemes are others using?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello.

I normally use the exact same one you listed above, but I leave out /vmimages.

The /boot, vmkcore, and /vmfs partitions are created automatically, but with scripted installs you can define the sizes.

Good Luck!

I thought /vmimages probably was not needed. So you just confirmed that.

Thanks,

Mike
