upgrade to virtual hardware 7 and linux guests

Greetings,

I've read a lot about issues to do with DNS records when upgrading Windows guests to hardware 7 but what about Linux?

I'd like to know if anyone has come across issue with hardware 7 and Red Hat EL 5.x

Can you use Update Manager to upgrade RHEL VMWare Tools and hardware.

We have updated the VM hardware and vmware tools on many RHEL 5 x64 and CentOS 5.x x86 & x64 VMs recently. Everything was ok. A sequence was the following:

1. Update vmware tools by script & tar.gz

2. Power off vm

3. Upgrade vm hardware

4. Power on

I had to upgrade VMware Tools manually, but everything went fine, even without reboot.

Of course VM hardware upgrade requires reboot.
