upgrade from esxi 4.0 to update1

Hello.

We want to upgrade our esxi4 server to update 1.

Where can I found a howto?

I want to restart the machine using theCD from the esxi4.0 update1 iso file.

When the cd is started, do I continue with "repair"?

With esx3.5 these process is much easier...

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Best regards.

AFAIK direct upgrade is no longer supported. Use vSphere Host Update Utility or Update manager to upgrade hosts.

Hello Anton.

Thanks for your answer. I'll update the server next week. I suppose, I have to shutdown all guests and change the ESXi to maintanance mode, that' right?

Best regards.

Yes.

VM backup is also strongly recommended before upgrade.

Hello Anton

Thanks for your answer.

We moved the machines to another, fresh installed  system. With this the Vm's were converted from version 4 to 7.

Best regards.
