patching ESXi 5.5 after installing HP custom image fails

Hi,

I have installed the HP custom ISO Image VMware-ESXi-.5.5.0-Update1-1746018-HP-5.7427-Jun2014 on a HP Proliant ML350G6 Server. The Installation is up and running, it is a single host, no vcenter, no second host.

The version info I get is build 1746018. I waht to upgrade that installaton using SSH Shell to build 1892794 by installing 2 patches: ESXi550-201406001 (build 1881737) and  ESXi550-201407001 (build 1892794).

When I try to install patch ESXi550-2014600 I get the following error:

Can someone please help me what I Need to install first to get the needed requierements?

Thanks

Dirk

There's an issue with the versions in that image. However, HP provides an updated Broadcom package at http://vibsdepot.hp.com/hpq/jul2014/esxi-550-devicedrivers/. After installing this package you will be able to apply updates again.

Btw. ESXi patches include all prior patches, so you don't have to apply both VMware patches. The latest one is sufficient.

Thanks Andre, that did it!

Comment for other readers: the zip file in Andre's link needs to be unzipped first before this update will be possible.

Good point. To be honest I ran into the same issue the first time I tried to deploy one of these driver bundles.
