is DATA MIGRATION TOOL supported in vSphere 4.1 and 5.0 ??

I am trying to upgrade my vCenter Server from version 4.1 to 5.0. i tried using the data migration tool but i get this error:

I also tried using the datamigration tool from vcenter 4.1 media but i got the same error. so the question is: can I use data migration tool to backup my database (SQL 2005 express) ?

I was not able to use the tool so I manually backed up the databases and the SSL folder.
