Hi!
After installing vSphere one service is not starting. This is iommu (Failed to load iommu driver) and after boot on the first screen I have message in red:
cpu1 :4106)Mod: 2077: Initialization for vtd failed with -1"
What are disadvantages of this situation.
My hardware: Intel S3210SHLX, Core2Quad, 4GB RAM

VT-d is an addition to the hardware virtualization that is available on many new motherboards. If your motherboard have it available it may not be enabled in the BIOS. If it isn't available on your motherboard you should be able to ignore it.
Hi,
I installed ESXi server 4.0 (trail version) on my physical machine. When I try to connect to this machine using putty from some other windows machine it says "Network error: Connection refused". So when I tried to open the console on the ESXi server box (by pressing Alt + F1), I am getting "Failed to load iommu driver", and nothing comes after this.
Can anyone please suggest any solution to fix this problem. Thanks.
Enable IOMMU option in the BIOS and check it.

Did you ever manage to fix this problem? I have the exact same error when pressing ALT+F1 in order to go in a linx shell on ESXi 4.0.
VT-d may or may not be available in your hardware BIOS. If it isn't available on your motherboard you should be able to ignore it.
I solved the same problem.
My PC is Dell Optiplex 760 (Intel Core 2 Duo Quad CPU Q9550 2.83GB, 4GB)
In the BIOS, uncheck VT for Direct I/O
