installing esxi 4.1 directly on intel lenovo i7-870 processor

Hai,

         i would like to install the esxi 4.1 on intel lenovo core i7-870 processor directly so that using the vmware web servie api's we can do java or dotnet programming of creating virtual machines.

i have one laptop with sony vaio of vpcea43eg series also......with any one of these ......is it possible for me  to install esxi4.1.....it is not a problem if it is esx 4.0 also( esx 4.0 also supports web service api's).....

installing ESXi directly on non-server hardware often doesn't work due to unsupported NICs and/or disk controllers. However, if this is just for testing your software against ESXi you could easily - provided the hardware (CPU) supports VT-x in the BIOS - install ESXi as a virtual machine in e.g. VMware Workstation.

Firstly YES you can install ESXi4.X or ESXi 5.x on your laptop.

Now question is how ?

First install VMWORKSTATION 8 on your laptop and then install ESXi 4.x or 5.x on your VMWORKSTATION 8.

Because only Vmworkstation 8 has option to install ESX server.
