how to clone a VM machine from ESXI server to other ESXi Server via network

Hello all,

I would like to know how to clone a VM machine from ESXI server to other ESXi Server via network (in the same LAN), I am using ESXi 5.5 , I am using Vmare Management Assistant, I have managed to clone VM machines but only into the same host ESXi 5.5 , it works perfect to me.

I have tried the following commands but it does not work, It same that command vmkfstools is used only for the same host.

vmkfstools --server esxi1  -i '[datastore1] SLES15-SERVER-A/SLES15-SERVER-A.vmdk'    --server esxi2  -i '[datastore1] SLES15-SERVER-B/SLES15-SERVER-B.vmdk'

Is there any way to clone via network in the same LAN remotely, some another command or tip?

Could I add the datastore1 on SERVER-B as a datastore2  in the SERVER-A ?

Thanks.

Cloning is a feature of vCenter.. so buy one(essentials?).

Otherwise

  • Export/Import as OVF
  • Backup&Restore
  • VMware Converter

Please take a look at https://williamlam.com/2012/06/how-to-copy-vms-directly-between-esxi.html to see whether this is what you are looking for.
