Hi guys...need some help , at my company we have a default password for esx boxes...with vsphere it wont accept my password because of a lenght/char policy?
Enter new password:
Weak password: not enough different characters or classes for this length.
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
localhost[root] /etc/pam.d #
so...how to change that? i cant change the default password because of company policies...can anyone help?
Check this link for a quick help: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsp40/server_config/t_change_default_password_complexity_for_the_pam_cracklib...
Try "lchage -l root" on the console. It should show you the settings and let you manipulte some settings this.
Use "man pam_cracklib" and check for the options there. They must be added behind the appropriate line in "/etc/pam.d/system-auth".
Use caution when playing around with this. Maybe you better try that on a different uncritical host, first.
