cant connect vcenter 4.1 to vsphere 4.0 u2 hosts

Just upgraded vcenter 4.0 U2 to 4.1 without any problems and also did update manager.

However all my hosts are now showing as disconnected.

I can correctly login to the hosts using the vsphere client directly but when trying to add them back into vcenter I get the following error:

Cannot install the vcenter agent server. Cannot upload agent.

The hosts had the default vsphere 4 u2 install on them and the only additonal thing which had been done was to enable SSH for root access (will be disabled later).

Any ideas on this ?

ok after a couple more reboots i can now add the 4.0 u2 host back into vcenter.

It won't let me put it back into the previously working HA group though as it's now complaining about network config error even though I haven't changed anything on the server yet.

ended up needing a few reboots and it all started working again with no changes.

was then able to push the 4.1 host update out using vcenter update manager without problems
