can't find existing VMFS

i have a dell server with local storage, and it's now version 4 upgraded from 3.5U3. now i want to re-install ESX4. but in the installation process, i can't find the option to keep the existing VMFS to keep data, in another words, i can't edit the partition as before, i can only edit the ESX console partition. anybody have similiar issue? thanks in advance.

Have you choose advanced setup?

See page 41 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf

yes, i choose the advanced setup, but the using exisitng datastore option is grayed out. even in my another ESX, which is a fresh new vsphere 4 installation, when i insert the installation DVD and go on, the option is still grey. all my data is in the local storage, :_|
