I am sure I am not alone in having many VMFS 3.21 datastores. In order to upgrade to VMS 3.33, new space needs to be allocated to dominio the datastores. VMware has pressed home the point that the upgrade is not needed to the point that management will not allocate even one spare LUN. I need reasons to the upgrade.
What will not work on 3.21?
What really works better on 3.33?
Nothing got fixed since 3.0?
Hello and welcome to the forums.
See if kb article 1005325 helps. Also check this discussion for the post by .
Good Luck!
It's all VMFS 3 and your upgrade option would be formatting the datastore and presenting it back.
Here's a good discussion as well

nothing.

Nothing.

Bug fixes, maybe some backend updates, but nothing major, so short answer, nope.
According to the kb article:
Features like VMFS grow in ESX 4 work regardless of the minor version.
My answer comes late, but whoever is interested should read this:
There was a VMworld presentation this year that covers the evolvement of VMFS since ESX3.

There HAVE been improvements in 3.31 (over 3.21) and there are even more important improvements in 3.33 that lead to a better scalability and performance. It reduces the numbers of potential SCSI reservations and this is always good in clustered environments ...
