Vsphere, receiving windows error, Windowless ActiveX controls

Hello,

Windows 7 running a fresh upgrade of the 4.1 vsphere client, upgraded from 4.0 U1via connecting to the new ESXi 4.1 host. I now get the error:

"Unable to get the window handle for the 'AxQuickMksAxCtl' control. Windowless ActiveX controls are not supported."

That when I try to edit a machine in an older ESXi host.

Same error if I try to open a console window of a running guest, but I also get:

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Any ideas?

Try turning off DEP and see if it works then.

Tried that, from a admin initiated CMD window. That didn't seem to make a difference. Yes, I did reboot the system after the command to turn off DEP.

Then... I uninstalled everthing VMware related. Once done, reinstalled from the file on the ESXi server.

That worked!

Thanks for the information. Didn't seem to help but/or...it did help but needed to have the uninstall and reinstall sequence done to apply something DEP prevented? Perhaps this may be helpful for someone else having the same issue.

Thanks...

Ted

Boa tarde Pessoal,

Estou com o mesmo problema, gostaria de saber o que é DEP? e como faço para desligar, por favor me informe o passo a passo.

Fico muito grato e aguardo restorno.

Obrigado
