Hi,
I am unable to apply the vsphere7 licence only the evaluation licence is available - I am unsure how this happened - there was a power cut - all is now OK but at the same time all the esxi hosts were in lockdown mode - which should not happen I think -
All hosts out of lockdown - all VM's OK - sphere is running but the evaluation licence remains while unable to apply the sphere 7 licence so cannot use sphere -
All very odd.
Doesn't the vSphere license show up at all?
If yes, can you confirm that the license shows available capacity?
André
It does show up as Valid - its vmware essentials - the esxi hosts are registered with it.
the sphere client is registered under the evaluation licence and I cannot apply the paid for licence - or remove the eval licence which has expired -
No idea what to do....
There is only one esxi host which is why the host shows 2 CPU's which is correct
On the second screenshot it shows that the vCenter tab is selected. Please select the host tab to see whether this shows the host and let's you assign a license.
André
There is a license missing in your inventory. A "Essentials" bundle contains 2 different products which means 2 licenses are included..... from your screenshot i dont see the vCenter license and thats the reason why you cant apply one.
Only your ESXi Hosts licence are in the inventory.

That makes sense - The licence is not in our downloads anymore for some reason - would a backup have the licence ?
Unsure what to do.
The license your looking for is just a serial key.... yes you can spinnup a backup and grab the key. But the question is why you dont see the license in your customer portal? If you wanna later upgrade to vSphere 8 this would be crucial.
A essential is combined (vcsa and esxi) together and i cant imagine why you should only see half of your bundle.

..The licence is not in our downloads anymore for some reason...
If you talk about your download folder than youre assuming something wrong because a vSphere license isnt a physical file.... its a serial key which you can grab

Are you asking vSphere or Vcenter license ?
If you are looking vSphere (host) license then click any host -- configuration--> license check then its evaluation or other
If evaluation then click assign license key and see if you are able to assign the license
If youre looking to the provided screenshots its clear what the OP is still missing.

Its a sphere licence - it shows - but isn't applied to sphere just the esxi hosts - the evauation key is applied to vshpere - when I try to apply the actual essentials licence it says its already applied -
it says cannot assign existing licence fix or remove licence -
You got 2 different keys.... so log into your customer connect and grab the missing key, apply it to the license management and assign it to the vCenter.
Its a 2min job.

I have and there are no keys - its vmware essentials and the product has gone from the portal vmware essentials 7
Are you the license administrator or do you only get "permissions" to certain folders/objects to your account? You can open an support chat even if you only have "Essentials" and provide them the contract/order ID. Than they can find out why it have disapper.
In 15 years as a VMware partner i havent seen that a essentials split or a customer only extend one of the two Instances. The Essentials subscriptions costs 60,,- per Year so it not a question about money.
Even without a working subscription you always see the Instances within the customer portal portal.
