I am trying to run updates on VSCA 7.0 (Version: 7.0.0 | Build 16620013), however, for some reason it keeps failing and I get the following error message:
I have seen a number of posts online that suggests removing the following file: /etc/applmgmt/appliance/software_update_state.conf. I've done this and things still didn't work and I am getting the same error message.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
Thank you for your post on VMware Communities.
Based on vCenter Server 7.0.0c for the Build number: 16620013 release notes:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/rn/vsphere-vcenter-server-700c-release-notes.html
I see that there is a known issue for "Unexpected error occurred while fetching the updates"
I would request you to patch the VCSA to a higher build to resolve the issue.

Thank you for the reply. Could I ask how I go about patching the VCSA to a higher build to resolve the issue?
Also, this might sound like a really silly question but what is the difference between the two access methods for vCenter Server?
You've got one option "https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN:5480" where you only see configuration options and the other option "https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN:443" where you see the VMs, Datastores, etc...
Are they both the same? The reason why I am asking is because from https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN:5480 I can see the available updates. I haven't tried updating from there but at least it gets further then the other method.
Please refer to the below URL to patch VCSA:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vcenter.upgrade.doc/GUID-043EF6BD-78F7-412F...
VAMI: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Adapter-for-SAP-Landscape-Management/2.0.1/Installation-and-Admini...
The patching of VCSA is done through VAMI.
Through VCSA Web Client: "https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN:443", you manage ESXi hosts, VMs, and most of the other features of vCenter.
