VMware vSphere 5.5 Enterprise to 6.7 upgrade

Hi,

Good day!.

I'm planning to upgrade our vRealize Operation 6.4 (active SnS) to 8.6 (latest).  I'm still running on VMware vSphere 5.5 Enterprise on our cluster with vCenter 5.5 (windows based) also with active SnS. I will upgrade the vSphere to 6.7 also.

I had done preliminary checking on the hardware side, Guest OS etc., and it's still compatible with vSphere 6.7.

What would be the best recommendation for the upgrade? Should I freshly install the latest version or should migrate it from 5.5 to 6.0, 6.0 to 6.7 and for vROPS 6.4 to 7.0, 7.0 to 8.3, 8.3 to 8.6.

Appreciate your response on this.

Thanks,

Jek

Hello,

What is the size of your estate ? Upgrade is recommended to preserve any existing data. If you have enough hardware, Other option would be bring new vcenter and Vrops and perform workload migration from old vcenter to new vcenter. you can reuse your hardware later if they are not EOL.
