VMware Update Manager had a failure. When scanning host

I'm trying to scan my host after creating a baseline for a Host upgrade from 3.5 to 4. I have attached the baseline to the host and when I'm scanning the host I get this error: VMware Update Manager had a failure.

I have opened the VMWare Update Manager ports 80,9000-9100TCP on the host's firewall.

Am I missing something?

Also, where should I open the port SOAP port 8084? On the Host or on the internet firewall? I don't know what this one does.

Thanks for your help!

probably not a firewall issue unless you have a firewall on your VC or between your hosts and VC.

Can you post the c:\documents and settings\all users\vmware\update manager\logs\*log4cpp.log file? That will probably give us more of an idea of what's causing the problem.

Ok now it's working, had to reinstall Update Manager from scratch.

In the logs, I've notice errors for SQL query.

So I tried to change the SQL server, did not work.

Tried to re-install Update Manager, did not work.

Deleted the Update Manager DB and all folders related, reinstalled Update manager, now it work.

Go figure out.

maybe you had migrated the database from another SQL server or did something else to give it a different schema other than dbo? That will mess up update manager.

Which ISO did you import to create the host upgrade baseline?

Upgrades to version 3.5.0 Build 123630 not supported

You should import 4.0 GA iso to upgrade 3.5 host to 4.0
