VCSA 6.0 on ESXi 5.0

Hi All,

I see that the documentation indicates that the vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 can be deployed "on a host running ESXi 5.5.x or later" and I was wondering if anyone knew why this limitation was in place.  I am looking into a vSphere 5.0 to vSphere 6.0 upgrade which may involve a migration from the Windows vCenter to the VCSA but this may affect the migration path.

vCenter also supports esxi 5.0

as I know VCSA has the same features and limitations like windows based vcenter

Thanks for the quick reply but my concern is about deploying the VCSA onto an ESXi 5.0 host which doesn't seem to be supported?

ok now I understand. You want to deploy your vcsa on a esxi 5.0 host.

i was thinking on managing esxi 5.0 hosts with the vcsa 6.0

what you can do is to remove one of the actual esxi 5.0 host from the cluster. then reinstall it with esxi 6.0 and install vcsa on it. then you can migrate your environment...

Thanks.  Upon further digging there appears to be discrepancy on the documentation which some state ESXi 5.0 or ESXi 5.5 as the requirement.

But the upgrade path makes sense as a workaround.
