VAMI update 6.7.0.48000-18010531 to 7.0.2.00200-17958471

I was trying to update one our vcenter from 6.7.0.48000-18010531 to 7.0.2.00200-17958471, the issue is that on VAMI updates there is no update available, y tried to use CD and even a local url to make the update using the vCSA update, but even then it seems that vcenter do not see the newsest version, and the only thing it comes to mind is that the build version form the v7.0.2 is lower than the build version of mi acutal 6.7

¿Has any one encounter this same issue?

Thanks

Hello @SamuPG

1) VAMI will only help you with the patching/updating from one build to another within the same version i.e. 6.7 U3m to 6.7 U3n and so on. As this is by default , only the updates released for the installed version , will be shown to you in the updates tab.

2) Upgrading from 6.7 (any build) to 7.0 (any build) is considered a major upgrade (as we are switching versions) and will be done by mounting the ISO and running the installer.
This is because ,

    a) Major upgrades will Deploy a new Appliance
    b) Connect to the source vCenter and copy/migrate all the configuration data to the new Appliance.
    c) Shutdown the source vCenter.

I believe you may have run into as known issue where in "7.0 U1 is shown as an available update in VAMI minor update tab for all previous releases of 6.7.x"

Refer the following for more details :

Hope this helps and clarifies your doubt.

Hello @SamuPG

You need to mount the 7.0.2 ISO on a windows system and then proceed with Upgrading the vCenter appliance.

Refer to the following for step by step information with the screenshots :

Sure I can do that, or restore a backup.

It's not about doing the update, that i can do, in fact is already done, the thing is why VAMI is not showing that update when it should.

I'll wait until next patch to see if my theory about the builds numbers is right.
