Upgrading standalone host

I have a DC with 2 geographically separated clusters, the clusters are not technically clustered at all since only one host is running per cluster for the moment, the first host replicates to the other one using Vsphere Replication. We do not have storage vmotion licensing. a

I have to upgrade one host from 5.5 to 6.5U1, what would be my best option?

Since the Virtual Center is running on the host I have to upgrade i would need to clone the VC so it runs on the other host if I want to use Update Manager.

Or i could use iDrac virtual media to mount the ISO file and update the host.

What do you think?

I would arrange for some downtime, bring down the vm's and update via idrac.
