Upgrade vSphere 5.0 to 5.5 SSO Install error 1603

Another SSO install error, but slightly different.

I am struggling to upgrade my lab environment from 5.0 to 5.5, I am going through the process before updating our production environment.

I seem to be experiencing a similar issue to those upgrading from 5.1 to 5.5, with the 1603 error in the vim-sso-msi.log but all the KB’s I have consulted reference 5.1 to 5.5 SSO installation issues. For example

I have also tried installing the openssl and python components beforehand as referenced in some other articles with no luck.

Any ideas on what could be causing a similar issue on 5.0 to 5.5?

Since 5.0 doesnt have SSO, SSO will be a fresh install..

You may want to check out this thread.. all posts seem to point to issues with fresh install of SSO.
