Upgrade to vSphere failed.

Hello,

I´m trying to upgrade my ESX 3.5 U4 hosts to ESX 4.0. It is like the update agent fails in the upgrade proccess but I don´t know how to fix the problem.

I have tried two ways and both failed:

1º vSphere Host Update Utility.

The upgrade proccess remain in the state shows in the image below:

and finally...

2º vCenter Update Manager

Hi,

Can you please answer the following questions.

1) Which platform you hit the issue. (Model No of the Server).

2) What are the peripherals you have in the machine(External Controllers).

3) Can you upload the files under "/esx4-upgrade/" directory after booting to ESX 35U4.

Thanks,

Sukumar Reddy.

With a change as big as 3.5 to 4.0, I much prefer doing a clean install, is there a reason you are not able to do this. It might be worth doing the clean install just to prove that it will install !

I agree, vSphere 4 is 64bit and 3.5 is 32bit. I prefer a fresh install as well.
