Upgrade to 4.1 error: installing package <package name> needs 4KB on the /boot filesystem;

Hi all

Getting the error on one of my host.

All other seems to work perfectly.

Installed the pre-upgrade first, no problem.

Error is: installing package needs 4KB on the /boot filesystem;

Error is for all packages int eh update package.

Any idea? Interpeting *nix errors is not my strong side.

Hi Dock,

How much free space do you have in /boot?

Hi Dock,

Total 24MB of free space should be available for successful Upgrade from ESX 4.0/Ux to ESX 4.1. Please refer the upgrade guide (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf). Here is the snip from Upgrade Guide.

<snip>

The /boot partition must have at least 24MB of free space.

</snip>

Thanks,

Sukumar.
