i am tryed to update my esxi host with this command:

To be sure everything will be ok I tryed to apply a single patch:

esxcli software vib update -d /vmfs/volumes/system/patches/ESXi650-201704001.zip

This worked without any issues.

I read through the internet and can't find a solution.

Are you trying to upgrade a stateless or pxe booted machine? Because I am able to use the same command and update machine from 6.5GA and 6.5U1 on a statefull esxi.

Can you please post the output of esxcfg-info -e  from the machine where the error was seen.

Normally such errors comes when you try to upgrade a pxe/stateless booted machine using esxcli commands.
