Upgrade VM Hardware when VC SQL is a VM??

Hi,

We are running the VC server and the SQL for the VC on 2 different VMs.

The SQL has been moved from a 3.5 cluster to a new vSphere cluster.

Now I'm trying to upgrade VM Tools and VM hardware on the SQL, the tools upgrade went fine with Update Manager,

but I'm not able to upgrade VM Hardware with the Update Manager. Because when the upgrade starts it

shuts the SQL down and connection to the VC is lost. The upgrade does not finish after a restart on the SQL.

How do I upgrade the VM Hardware in this case, is there an installation I can run locally on the SQL server?

Connect directly to ESX host with vSphere Client and do HW upgrade.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Have tried to connect directly to the ESX host (4.0.0 build 244038),

but cant find any options for HW Update (see attachment)

Sorry, to fast to reply, didnt notice that the VM was running.

Found the HW Upgrade when I powered it of.
