Upgrade ESX 3.5 to vSphere - disconnect iSCSI SAN?

Hi,

I need to upgrade a pair of Dell R710s running ESX 3.5 on an Equallogic PS4000 iSCSI SAN to vSphere, do I need to disconnect them from the SAN to do this? I'm using the software initiator, and am booting from local storage on the R710s.

Cheers

Not necessary. Just enough to move out VMs (if you dont want downtime) and put your ESX into maintenance mode before upgrade. Don't forget to upgrade virtual center first ya!(if you have one)

I am currently finishing up some of our upgrades and you should be fine with placing the host in maintenance mode and performing the upgrade.
