Unknown device after upgrade to hardware version 7

Hello,

I just upgraded my ESX 3.5 to ESX 4.0.

After upgrading the vm-tools, I have upgraded the Windows virtual machine (Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2) from hardware version 4 to hardware version 7.

Now there is an unknown device "PCI Memory Controller" in the device manager.

I found no driver for that device.

Has someone an idea where I can find a driver ?

Helllo.

Do you have paravirtualization enabled? If so, turn it off.

Good Luck!

Hi llammers,

You can try to reinstall VMware tools (after removing old ones?). Maybe changing the hardware version needs additional drivers from the tools...

Hope it helps.

Franck

Hello Franck,

I reinstalled the vm tools several times.

Same problem.

Vmroyale solved the problem. I disabled paravirtualization and the unknown device disappeared.

Thank you for your help.
