Unable to do a fresh install of VSphere4

Hi,

I am having a weird problem. I am trying to install VMware VSphere4 on 2 IBM X3500 with IBM ServeRAid 8k adapter. When I start the installation, I get to point where it is asking where I want to install ESX. On both system, under "Local Storage", I see my RAID array, but it is grayed out, so I can't select it. When I click NEXT, a message is telling me to select where to install ESX.

The only thing I could see why it is not letting me select the array is that one of them is 2TB and the other is 3TB. I have look at the maximum for a datastore and the maximum is 64TB.

Any clue, anyone?

Thank you

While the maximum datastore is 64TB it is composed of 32 2TB LUNs Actually the LUN must be slightly smaller than 2TB by 512 bytes.

See this doc:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_config_max.pdf

Each disk, LUN, partition must be smaller than 2 TB - 512 B
