Trying to update ESX 4.0 to 4.1 through 4.1 update manager

If I use the .ISO for 4.1, it says incompatible. If I use the .ZIP for the upgrade, it says non-compliant. First time using UM, what am I doing wrong

1. Did you tryed installing the esxi4.1 directly on the host using DVD installable option to make sure this clears up.

2. Check if the hardware is compatable or not.

3.What is the update manager version you used to update from esxi 4.0 to 4.1 it should be update manager 4.1

My guess either your hardware is not compatable or you are updating from ESX 4 to ESXi 4.1, which is not supported.

Hi,

Looks your in the right path, hope your Update Manager is 4.1.x

to upgrade ESX from 4.0.x to 4.1.x , we have to use Upgrade ZIP file and upload in to Update Manager -> Host upgrade tag.

After that create a host upgrade base line in Update Manager.

Attach the base line to host and scan against the base line

The base line will show in RED color in NON-Complaint status.

Follow the Remediation screen and complete the upgrade.
