Tasks timeout in ESXi 5.1 U1

Hi,

By default a task times out at 15 minutes.

I'd like to change the limit to 30 minutes. I applied the following KB : VMware KB: Extending the default timeout periods for vCenter Server, ESX/ESXi hosts, and vCenter Upd...

but it doesn't work.

I modified the vpxa.cfg file as explained, restarted hostd and vpxa on the ESXi server but the tasks stop anyway at 15 minutes.

Have you been able to apply the KB successfully?

Thanks

Yes and the KB works perfectly but seems you did have a duplicate in the configuration where the Vpxd.cfg file , i will give you a fast hint , just go open it again and search for
<timeout>900</timeout>

and

<blockingTimeoutSeconds>900</blockingTimeoutSeconds>

Just replace the 900 here with 1800 and save then restart the VMware VirtualCenter Server service and you will be fine .

Hope i helped ,

best regards

Your Oscar

Thank you for the reply.

I modified vpxa.cfg only on the ESXi host and I ran a task that takes more than 15 minutes directly on this host.

I didn't run the task from the vCenter but the ESXi host is managed by a vCenter. I'm going to modify the vpxd.cfg file on vCenter but I think I already did that.

I'll let you know.
