Stop MS SQL Express services after Upgrade

Dear All,

On a windows 2012 R2 we had vcenter 5.5 which we upgraded to 6.5 on same platform. As a part of process the database is migrated to postgresSQL. After migration things are ok but I see MS SQL services still running on the server and consuming resources.

Can I turn it off safely through Mgmt studio and through explorer stop DB and all services since DB is moved already as part of migration / upgrade.

Please advise if someone have done this.

regards,

Hello,

Thanks for posting in VMware communities.

Can you clarify if you have done a migration or upgrade.

Migration - Move from windows based vCenter to a vCenter appliance

Upgrade - Upgrade windows based vCenter from 5.5 to 6.5 on the same OS

If this is upgrade, you are not supposed to stop any services as the vCenter might still be running on the windows machine.

The java.exe are components of vCenter server indicating it is still running in your environment.

Can you answer to the question asked which will help to isolate this issue.

Regards,Jonathan
