Is this different ISO just for systems that are booting via iSCSI or are just using it?
That ISO is for hosts using iSCSI. There was a problem where booting a host attached to an iSCSI SAN could take a lot of time. That ISO contains the patch to avoid that scenario.
For installation it is all the same ISO -
So I should just use the ISO that with iSCSI for all my systems whether they use it or not, since the patch should get installed anyway?
No, ESXi/ESX normal installer detect the iscsi luns and install on it. You must have configured the ISCSI lun and ISCSI HBA to boot the luns
ISO is same for all ESXi installtion or you can use (hardware) vendor specific ISO for the installation.
For booting ESXi from iSCSI you have to do the necessary configuration in the BIOS, this will help (http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2011/11/how-to-configure-esxi-to-boot-via-software-iscsi.html)

depping, so if I am not booting from iSCSI but have iSCSI LUNs for VMFS volumes I wouldn't be effected then?
But that ISO containing the fix I can use for all hosts regardless since it just contains a normal patch delivered via VUM.
Do I have that all straight now?
Thanks!
