SQL 2008 with vSphere 5.5

Has anyone upgraded their vSphere environment to 5.5 running on SQL 2008 non-R2 as their database platform? I'm planning out an upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5 and according to what I'm seeing on the interoperability matrix pretty much all versions of SQL 2008 are not supported with 5.5 - only the R2 editions of 2008 are supported. The matrix also says that SQL 2005 SP4 is supported with 5.5 so I'm not sure that I believe it all that much.

I'm running a standalone SQL 2008 Standard SP3 64-bit server and I realize it may be time to start looking at an upgrade for him but he is used for other applications as well so it isn't as easy as I might like. Curious if anyone is in a similar situation and if they've had any issues.

Welcome to the Community - It will probably work but it is not supported so you will not be able to VMware for support -
